So, I had to work from home yesterday and I hated it. A telecommuter I am definitely not. Though I’m very quiet and a bit of a recluse at work I’ve learned that I prefer the face-to-face interaction with co-workers when it comes time to meet, sort out business issues and maintain a work-focused frame-of-mind. Perhaps the disconnect came as a result of the fact that I draw a hard line between my work and personal lives, striving always to leave my work mind at my desk and to never allow my more relaxed personal self to join me at work. Serious at work, frivolous on my own time. In this sense working from home is a bit like mixing two things which should never come together. Maybe that’s why people make home offices?
